McClintock Siblings Earn Canadian Water Skiing Crowns

Water skiing siblings Whitney and Jason McClintock took home a gold medal each Sunday at the Canadian Waterski Championships in King Township, Ont.

Whitney McClintock, from Cambridge, Ont., defended her slalom title while coming second to 13-year-old Neilly Ross of Belleville, Ont., in the tricks competition.

"It always good to come back to Canada to ski and win some gold medals", said McClintock, a four-time world champion who trains out of Orlando.

Water skiing is not an Olympic sport, but it is on the program for the Pan Am Games.

Winnipeg's Taryn Grant won the jump event with a 42.5 metre leap.

On the men's side Jason McClintock won the trick competition with a score of 10,210.

"It felt good, I lost my last trick, which would have made it a personal best, but I am really happy with my score and walk away with a gold medal," he said.

Calgary's Stephen Neveau edged McClintock for the slalom crown, while Alex Paradis of Quebec City won the men's jump with a leap of 42.5 metres.
