About Micky Geller

Micky was a fearless, determined, hardworking athlete who put his whole heart into everything he did.

He never held back and had a truly all in approach both on and off the water. Learning a new skill or getting a new PB was never about if he could do it, it was only about how soon. Although he enjoyed being on top of the podium, he appreciated others’ success and was always ready to congratulate his friends and competitors with 100% sincerity. Micky was kind, had a good sense of humor, exuded sportsmanship and had a knack for connecting with people of all ages.

One of Micky’s most notable traits was his unfettered enthusiasm.

The yelling and chest pounding when he landed a big jump is just one example of his joy on the water. His excitement for the sport extended well beyond his own skiing. Micky was regularly cheering from the shoreline when someone pb’d or screaming from the boat when someone landed a new trick. He encouraged skiers young and old to try new things and push harder and was genuinely thrilled with the accomplishments of others. He was determined for everyone to enjoy skiing as much as he did.

The Micky Geller Award is based on the type of enthusiasm that Micky had and imposed on everyone at the lake. Each year we recognize an athlete, coach or official who embodies this enthusiasm.

Someone whose presence brightens up the dock regardless of the weather or conditions.

Someone who is supportive, encouraging and recognizes everyone’s accomplishments with enthusiasm no matter how big or small, no matter what age or skill level.
